I recently had the pleasure of traveling to Boston to connect with some old friends. My journey began with Don & Nancy - great people and wonderful pastors of the Vineyard Church in Kingston. The weather was great my first day in New England. We went out for lunch at the Blue Eyed Crab Grill and Raw Bar in Plymouth and we all ordered the same thing...a crab cake sandwich with some kind of sauce that included jalapeños:
On the way to the restaurant, I saw this great warning label above the storm drain...
I bet you have never seen one of these in California before!
Hannah drove up from Hartford on Saturday and I took her out to lunch
Then we went for a drive and discovered I have a gas station named after me...
We then drove up to Framingham and connected with one of Hannah's dear friends, Kelly. Fact is, she is a friend of our entire family...
Sunday morning I had the privilege of being asked to teach at the Vineyard Church of Hopkinton, pastored by Rob & Liz Davis...
The next day, Rob & I drove to Hopkinton State Park and went for a swim and a jog. (*Rob is an amazing athlete and I want to recruit him to be my trainer!) On the way out of the park we came across three, beautiful fawns...
In spite of the humid summers and at times bitter cold winters, New England is one of the most beauitful places I have ever seen. Everywhere you look, you see a plush "green-ness"
Of course, no trip to New England would be complete without LOBSTAH!!!
Demonstrating their extraordinary gift of treating their guests like kings and queens, Dan & Cheryl also prepared fresh corn on the cob (*just picked in Holliston...and btw, New England is the only place on earth where they ask you how many corn on the cobs you want...I had never been offered more than one until I saw my friends powering down 3, 4 or 5 cobs!), two types of squash, and barbecued sirloin.
Here's Dan behind the fiery red crustaceans...
Notice the special lobster light decorations...
Joining us that evening were some of the Emmons' clan
And Tim & Carrie...just a few days before their baby girl was born...
My last day in town was spent in Boston, together with Don & Nancy, Rubén (a fellow Vineyard Pastor from El Centro who will begin to partner with us in our work with Las Viñas in Spain), and an old friend from Barcelona, Samuel, who has lived in the Boston area for several years. He gave us a hot tip: there is a beautiful courtyard at the Boston Library. A great place to talk or study...
The only disappointment of the trip was that I couldn't see all our friends. Sadly, there never seems to be enough time to see everyone we know and love. But for the limited time I did have, I am thankful. My visit was great!
Ah, and I forget to mention I made a couple new friends one day...
It was love and slober at first sight!
Hey Randy, We do have warning labels like that in CA, just not the lobster, ours has a fish.
